spectral BRDF, is the fundamental description of surface reflectance, being the ratio of reflected spectral radiance (Wm^-2sr^-1nm^-1) exiting around a direction vector Ω (relative to a surface normal vector) to the spectral irradiance (Wm^-2nm^-1) incident on the surface from direction Ω at some wavelength λ.
